Lessons I am Learning on my Journey
It’s been a while since I’ve written anything about my journey here. I guess life has just been busy and I’ve neglected you, the reader, during this busy-ness. Please forgive my absence. I am always a work in progress.
I remember my mom, who is a Christian, would say, “just like Jesus, we all have a cross to bear.” I used to roll my eyes at this comment. However, today I see the meaning of her proclamation as being that…we have all come here to learn something.
Spiritually, the “cross” is our divine path - a way to raise consciousness about ourselves individually and collectively and become aware of our spiritual self. If you’re a naturalist, then this is how humans will continue to evolve and survive in this world. Without these lessons, how can we do better until we know better? Whatever your beliefs are, it’s all the same to me.
All spiritual leaders, past and present, teach us that divine power lies within us – the power of love, creativity, abundance, healing, gratitude, etc. All we need to do is use this power. And in order to use it, we have to realize it. In order to realize it, we need learn about it.
So, what are some of the things I’ve learned on my big fat journey so far?
Self-Love - I learned this lesson when I realized that I’ve been abusing my body with food. And I’ve been hard on myself about it.
Healing – In order to have healing, I need to have been ill in the first place. Recently, I was told I am now pre-diabetic.
Wellness – I’ve learned more about nutrition for the body, mind and soul.
Abundance/Giving – In order to be obese, I’ve had to have abundance and I’ve had to learn about how to manage the abundance that flows. Instead of keeping it all for myself, I have to let it flow through me and back into the world again.
Self-care – I’ve learned that taking care of myself doesn’t mean “rewarding” myself with tasty treats, empty calories and high fat foods. It means I choose healthy treats that help my body run efficiently.
Spirituality – I have come to believe that every part of my journey on earth is a spiritual one. As I weave my way through the path, I am coming closer and closer back to the light.
Forgiveness – I’ve learned that forgiving doesn’t mean righting a wrong. It means I move on from it and forgiving myself is the most important lesson I can learn in order to move on with myself.
And so the journey continues…
