Hire Canadian Military.com
Forum Created for Military Member Seeking Career Change
By Jillian Driessen
A new website offering job opportunities to retiring and exiting Canadian Forces members is creating some excitement. The site HireCanadianMilitary.com is run by four members of the CF community.
Steve Harrison and Bruce Beswick devised the plan for the site three years ago after they both exited and re-entered the Canadian Forces after trying their hand at some other jobs. The difficulty for them to find meaningful employment upon releasing from the forces was their inspiration to create HireCanadianMilitary.com
The site features a very simple interface which is efficient, appealing, and user friendly. The site’s design is the work of Brad Hillman, who, in Steve Harrison’s words, “Makes it all work”.
It features employment opportunities for retiring and exiting forces employees looking to enter the civilian workforce. The options posted on the site are endless. H.C.M. features jobs in nearly every field including supervisory positions, IT, Aviation, and employment at companies such as Calian, L3, and Commissionaires.
The site also offers the option of returning to the Canadian Forces if a member so chooses. Hire Canadian Military has been successful in posting hundreds of job ads in the last three years. They have posted more than 160 jobs in the last 90 days. The success of the site can be attributed to a high demand from employers for past military employees.
Harrison explains that the values learned while in the forces such as discipline, teamwork, the ability to work under pressure coupled with vast life and work experience and a hefty contact list make ex-military members a valuable asset to any company.
“People are more educated in what the military has to offer,” says Harrison.
The success of hirecanadianmilitary.com is testament to this.
The site, which is not DND affiliated, aims to help each and every user find an employment opportunity that suits their needs and interests. With the growing demand for experienced military members, the site should continue to meet this goal.
